The City of Auburn Water Department periodically conducts water system maintenance and/or water system improvement activities, that may temporarily affect water supplies to some customers. We strive to keep you informed of these events through
various methods, including our City website, phone messages, text and email
alerts, and roadside message boards in affected areas. Expect to receive
notifications via one of these methods if we’re working near you.
Our next flushing activity occurs:
December 2nd-6th from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM in the Valley service area north of SR18, east of State route 167, south of West Main Street, and west of C Street SW, also including Western Avenue. Please see the map for more details.
During flushing, customers may experience a slight drop in household water pressure and notice discolored water as sediments are removed from the system. The sediment and discolored water are not a health hazard and are not a cause for concern.
Customers should avoid water use, especially laundry, during flushing events. We recommend the following:
- Close water valves to appliances, icemakers and other automatic water-using devices.
- Keep these valves closed during the flushing hours of
8:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
- If you experience discolored water after the flushing period, follow these steps before using your water:
- Open the outdoor faucet nearest to your water meter
and let it run until the water is clear.
- Next, flush a toilet or run water into a bathtub until the indoor water is clear.
- Once your water is running clear, you may resume normal water use.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and
appreciate your understanding as we work to provide safe, reliable, and
adequate water service. For questions or assistance with any issues resulting
from discolored water, please contact us at 253-931-3048.
